1947 40’ MATTHEWS STOCK CRUISER - *$6,500 OBO

This Matthews is located in Northeast Ohio on a trailer where she’s been stored for a while now. We have not seen her in person yet and cannot vouch for her condition. All we know is what the pictures show. She is slated to be cut up and parted out so if you’re interested in a vessel of this type, you should contact us quickly. Meanwhile, we will update this listing with whatever information we are able to learn as it comes in..

Specifications:
• 40’ Matthews Stock Cruiser
• Twin 427’s according to the pictures - Obviously repowered at some point. We have no other engine info.

Condition:
The condition is unknown but from the pictures, she appears to still be quite tight and fair. The owner apparently began making frame and plank repairs to her port topsides but we don’t know what the reason was. We are attempting to learn more about her condition but wanted to get her advertised before she’s scrapped. More will be posted as we learn the details but if you are interested, you should contact us soon. We would be happy to discuss a possible restoration of this boat. 26’ Lyman Hardtop Sleeper - $6000*

This very restorable boat is at our shop on its own cradle on a four-wheel trailer. We offer it as a restoration project for our shop and will discount up to half the purchase price with a full restoration if she is purchased before the work begins. A prospective buyer should have the means and desire to see this project through to its highly detailed conclusion. Note that she is not available for outright sale at this time except as a restoration project. *Offered for $6000 plus restoration

Specifications:
1970 Lyman Hardtop Sleeper
225 HP Chrysler 318 - fully rebuilt and detailed in 2003 - less than 100 hours according to the previous owner who used the boat primarily to get out to the perch fishing.

Condition:
We ran the boat this past fall and she ran well. She did leak a bit too much at rest so she’ll likely get new garboards at least. She needs new decks, outwales, and parts of the sheer planks and our intention is to install a solid lumber transom as well.

We have yet to closely examine the condition of the structural framing and planking as the floor boards and ceiling are still in her but the visible areas appear in better than average condition. We’ll know more after a thorough survey.

The interior joinery is intact and its finish is serviceable but not perfect. You might choose to simply freshen with additional varnish coats or refinish from bare wood.

We have thought for a long time that it would be fun to create a custom version of a Lyman by altering certain details in its styling to reflect our own preferences. This may be the one. Whether you want to participate in that idea or preserve this boat in its original form, now is the time to call or email us to discuss your ideas. Please click here to contact us.

1967 26’ Lyman Hardtop Sleeper - $6000* SOLD!

This is another very restorable boat at our shop on its own cradle on a two axle trailer. The current owner is reluctantly selling after only recently acquiring the boat, intending to fully restore her. The previous owner had begun the work by removing the original deck ply, intending to redeck her to his own liking but illness stopped the project so the boat has been stored for upwards of seven years in a barn.

Specifications:
1967 Lyman Hardtop Sleeper - 26’ 225 HP Chrysler 318. Engine particulars are not known but the engine oil is clean, hoses and wiring have been replaced or maintained, the bilges are free of oil and engine gunk and the engine itself looks clean and cared for. It appears to have been repainted and that may indicate a rebuild, although we have not been able to cinfirm that.

Condition:
We believe she still sports the original factory finish inside as there is no evidence of significant refinishing. The hull is one of the best we’ve seen with clean, well maintained bilges, structural framing in excellent condition, plank lines showing sharp, fair edges and all parts intact.

Please click here to contact us for a full assessment, written in the fall of 2007 for the current owner as a restoration proposal.

1958 35’ Chris Craft Constellation - *$7,500

This big, roomy Chris Craft Constellation is for sale only as a full restoration project for our shop. Our goal is to return it to like-new or better-than-new condition. A potential buyer must have the means and desire to complete the entire project to the highest standards. *Offered for $7500 plus restoration.

Specifications:
35’ Chris Craft Constellation with factory hardtop
Twin Model MCL 170 HP 6 Cylinder engines with Paragon reverse gears
All original hardware is aboard and in excellent condition needing only new chrome. The interior is original except the galley counter was altered slightly to accommodate a non-factory refrigerator.

Condition:
Above the waterline, the hull appears sound and in excellent condition. The boat was floating but the bilge pumps cycled a bit too often when we acquired it, We will know more when the chine planks are removed from the topsides but at this time, we expect to rebuild the bottom from the chines down. Done properly, that will result in an exceptionally sound, stable, watertight bottom.

The decks are factory-laid teak and show no indication of ever having been significantly reworked. Our inclination is to lift the teak, inspect, repair, replace, reseal or otherwise ensure the structure below is in a like-new condition and rebed the teak and trim components in such a way as to ensure long-term integrity and ease of maintenance.

The engines were removed before we acquired the boat but they were reported running previous to that. The owner intended to paint the bilge and have the engines ‘rebuilt’ and repainted while he did that. That work was not done. We anticipate finding the engines are in excellent shape given the light usage they have had in the past twenty five years or so. A buyer will have the option to rebuild the engines or to repower the boat altogether.

We expect to rework both upper and lower windshields, window channels, cabin side joints and cabin tops to ensure the integrity and water-tightness of all the fastened joints. That effort results in long-lasting paint and varnish work and eases maintenance in the long run. Virtually everything, inside and out, requires new finish work but we view that as an opportunity to turn this boat into a stunning example of a 50’s era wood Chris Craft that stands out from the crowd, no matter which crowd it is!
