Restoration
Our History
We spent our first twenty five years at Riddle Boatworks repairing and restoring wooden boats of all types: Wood and canvas canoes and dinghies, lapstrake utilities, batten-seamed runabouts, carvel planked cruisers, strip-planked commercial fishing boats and cold-molded racing sailboats are all in our repertoire.

Some projects have been for show where quality of finish and original appearance are judged. Some have been for discriminating owners who just plain love their boats and appreciate the art in them. And others were just to keep a wood boat going strong. Regardless the reason for restoring a particular boat, we apply our same high standards to all the work we perform to ensure structural integrity that equals or improves the original construction. It's working. Some of our work is now older than the original was at the time we performed the task.

Components

We repair and restore all manner of wooden boat components, both power and sail, individually or as part of a total restoration. The list is endless but among them are:
  • Backbone and framing members
  • Transoms
  • Bottom and topside planking
  • Deck framing and decking
  • Windshields and window framing
  • Cockpit and interior features
  • All mechanical, electric and plumbing systems
  • Hardware, instruments and gauges
